I have eventually figured out what the mai problem is in Romania, lack of responsablitiy. We have a country full of big children and no grown man to teach us better.
No one has responsibilities, anyone cand do anything with no consequences. If I would bild a house with no building permit - I will get (in the worst case scenario) a small fine, If the President and the Guvern are doing a fraudulent misuse of funds - they don't get reelected, if a clerk takes bribe he is fired.
Well... these are no punitive actions! These are bearely a slap on the wrist.
What if the state would actually take down any house built without permit? What if the President and members of the Govern would have to payback the state for all the funds they misused? What if clerks would have to pay back all the bribe they ever took before getting fired? Should they not have the money, all their assets and their relatives assets should be seized until the money get payed back. Ok that would not be entirely correct but then again this would not have to be inforced as no one would dare to try it. Should they be to scared to work under these circumstance, affraid they might make mistakes? Let them live, let people who are not affraid do they work.
Let us take the case of the President or the Government as they are my main concern right now, they won't get reelected ... ok ... and? How would that help after 4 years of hunger, How would that help after 4 years of no investements in infrastructure, How would that help after 4 years of doing nothing (assuming stealing is doing nothing). Will either Basescu or Boc give me 4 years of my life back? After 4 years they will live happy in thei big homes out of their big fat accounts regardless of their political life. We all wrongly assume that our politicians are there for a chance to make a difference, for a chance to make history and that they would be greatly hurt by not beeing reelected. I doubt it.
Above all they are all morons, they might have gathered enough for them and their children to live well for the rest of their life but how about their grandchildrens? Won't they grandchildren have to live in a worthless country filled with worthless people?
To wrap it up: What if we would all be really responsible for our action? What if?
